LG Optimus 2X Android smartphone

The LG Optimus 2X, the first Android smartphone to run on a dual core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, is due out in the first quarter of 2011. It has a 4 inch display, a 1500mAh battery and a microSD card slot to expand storage capacity. The Optimus 2X will ship with Android 2.2 but an update to Android 2.3 is very much on the cards.

The LG Optimus 2X is designed for the GSM network. It weighs 139 g and has a 4 inch multitouch display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Other specifications include a proximity sensor, light sensor and an 8 megapixel camera with flash and 1080p HD video recording capabilities. There is also a 1.3 megapixel camera on the front.

The LG Optimus X2 supports video calling and video playback. It has also got a music player, web brower, alarm, calendar, microUSB port, HDMI, DLNA, Bluetooth, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, accelerometer and compass. The handset comes standard with 8GB of memory which can be expanded to 32GB using the microSD card slot. No word on pricing at the moment.
