Sprint has officially announced the HTC Evo Shift 4G which will land on the carrier on January 9, 2011. The handset is priced at $149.99.

The Sprint HTC Evo Shift 4G has a 3.6 inch capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. It is powered by an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7630 processor (This is the same processor that powers the G2 and myTouch 4G). Other specifications include a 5-mega pixel camera with 720p HD video recording capabilities, WiMAX 4G, EVDO Rev A. and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. There is no camera on the front side.

The EVO Shift 4G runs HTC Sense UI on top of Android 2.2. It also offers Sprint’s Mobile Hotspot with support for up to 8 connected clients.

Pricing and Availability
The EVO Shift 4G, which will be on display at CES, will be available in all Sprint retail channels on January 9th at the subsidized price of $150 after a $100 mail-in rebate and activation of a two-year contract, including a data plan. The smartphone can be pre-ordered at Best Buy now, and according to Sprint, this is the cheapest any current 4G smartphone has ever been at launch.
