Earlier iOS 4.3 Jailbreak on iPhone 3GS, iPad and iPhone 4 using unofficial Pwnagetool bundle was quite difficult for beginners. The PwnageTool bundle used require an additional software “Ramdisk Fixer” to work properly. Two famous developers, iH8sn0w and jcf_dev have released new unofficial PwnageTool bundle which can be used to jailbreak iOS 4.3 GM version without using Ramdisk Fixer. The iOS 4.3 GM jailbreak process is same except that you don’t need to patch the Ramdisk by Ramdisk Fixer while using these new PwnageTool bundle.
As usual the jailbreak with unofficial PwnageTool bundle is tethered and you have to connect your device with the PC for a successful reboot. All those users who rely on unlock should not try this method because it doesn’t support hacktivation.
Modify PwnageTool
STEP 1. First you have to download PwnageTool bundle for iPad. Now extract the .zip folder, then you have to move iPad1,1_4.3_8F190.bundle file from this folder to your desktop.
STEP 2. Now you have to download PwnageTool 4.2 then copy it to /Applications directory. Now right click on it and then click on “Show Package Contents” as you can see from the image below.
STEP 3. Now simply go to Contents/Resources/FirmwareBundles/ and paste iPad1,1_4.3_8F190.bundle file in this location.
Build iOS 4.3 Custom Firmware
STEP 4. Now you have to download iOS 4.3 GM firmware for iPad then move it to your desktop.
STEP 5. Then start PwnageTool in “Expert mode” and choose your iOS device.
STEP 6. Now you have to browse for iOS 4.3 GM firmware for iPad as you can see from the below image.
STEP 7. In order to start creating custom 4.3 firmware file you have to select “Build”.
Now you have to wait for some time until iTunes installs the new firmware 4.3 on your iPad. At this time you will be able to see a progress bar on your iPad screen which indicates that installation progress. Once the installation is completed your iPad will be jailbroken on iOS 4.3.
