Apple has submitted a patent application which will allow users to translate Text-to-Speech & Speech-to-text in iPhone calls. This is revealed by the site Patently Apple. It is expected that this Text-to-Speech & Speech-to-Text converter will be introduced in the upcoming Apple operating system iOS 5.
The first is when a smart phone user is in a loud location, such as a bar or restaurant where making voice calls is nearly impossible because of the surrounding noise. The second is when a user is in a quiet location, such as in a meeting or at church, when making a voice call would be inappropriate.
If Apple successfully implement this features in the iOS 5 then users will be able to convert voice mails into text.
Apple iOS 5 will be introduced in WWDC 2011.
