The action of removing her son from his home and going on the run with him sparked a Florida judge to issue an emergency order to return the boy to the state immediately.
Country star Mindy McCready and her 5-year-old son Zander were found hiding in a closet in an Arkansas home and the boy has since been taken into custody.
Who has a long history of drug and alcohol problems, took the boy from Florida earlier this week, claiming that her mother and stepfather, Gayle and Michael Inge, were abusing the child. The Inges denied those claims. Zander is now in the custody of the Arkansas Division of Children and Family Services. Arrangements are being made to return him to his grandmother in Florida, as she is his legal guardian.
According to Gayle, Mindy sent a text message to her half-brother indicating that her mother would “never see her again.” “I want to wrap my arms around her and tell her that I love her,” Gayle said.
