Facebook Upgrades JavaScript Connect Library

Facebook has been testing the alpha version of their new Facebook Connect your library for a few months. New library should be for developers to simplify the process of implementation of Facebook Connect. Day Facebook announced “basic support for XFBML and advanced data layer to optimize FQL queries.” While David Recordon Facebook developers demoed this in Washington DC last week the developer garage, new library should make things much easier.

Please note that the latest Connect Facebook JavaScript library was still in alpha mode (not even a beta), so run this on production sites may not be the best idea. Facebook Connect is growing rapidly, but there has been criticism from some of the ease of use in implementing Facebook Connect service. That’s why Facebook has been working hard to upgrade Connect JavaScript library.

Facebook’s Impending Homepage Redesign

Facebook is in the midst of testing a new iteration of the site homepage, and earlier today, One thing that immediately stood out to me is the elimination of “Log Out” button, which I guess is not frequently used links, or just something that the company wants to de-emphasize. Chat link has also continued to appear in the bottom right corner, but the site “toolbar” does not take the entire footer.

Many of the design is not really a surprise to anyone who has followed the changes to the developer road map which is updated by Facebook. Also we see that there are no skyscrapers in the sidebar ads, something that we’ve heard Facebook eliminate entirely, choosing to generate 100 percent of their income from their internal advertising system. We are not sure if this happens to be coincidence that no skyscraper ads, or that the new design, in fact, will mark the abolition of third-party advertising on Facebook.

General Information :

FacePAD, better known as the Facebook Photo Album Downloader will allow you to download your friends’ facebook albums, Events albums, and Group Albums, en masse, with the click of a button. This extension was originally developed by Nic Holliday. I took the liberty of updating this extension for Firefox 3 since he didn’t. In the process, I’ve revamped his code, made it compliant with Mozilla’s standards & Facebook’s new interface, and I’ve added many new features, such as support for non-English speaking users.
